Community & Advocacy

My political and advocacy work began in 2019 with organizing for Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign. However, my recognition of the broken system began long before that. Through my non-profit work, as well as my lived experience being raised in a working class household, by a first generation American, it became clear that the current political structures in place were designed to maintain the status quo, deter inter-class mobility, and ultimately benefit the wealthy few over the everyday working class American.
In the June 2022 Democratic primaries, I was elected by the voters of New York's Assembly District 36 in Astoria, Queens to represent my district as Judicial Delegate. During my incumbency, I had the privilege of representing Assembly District 36th at the annual Judicial District Convention for the 11th Judicial District during which I advocated for alternatives to incarceration, investing in community mental health initiatives, and cannabis criminal justice reform.
In addition to my tangible elected duties, I had the honor of representing Assembly District 36 concurrently alongside nationally recognized progressive leaders including Congressional Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former New York State Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani. My collaborative work with Zohran Mamdani's State Assembly office included working group contributions towards the development of an alternatives to policing community safety plan. In addition, I was honored to receive Zohran Mamdani's endorsement during my 2022 campaign and to share a ballot slate with Mamdani, alongside a slate of progressive activists.
I continue to use my platform to advocate for housing justice across New York City, access to affordable healthcare via the New York Health Act, and the protection of civil liberties across New York State.
